It’s a well-known fact that many people have specific preferences on how they enjoy consuming their cannabis. Whether you stick to flower, or you only take dabs, each person has their own preference, and often times, figuring out what you like the best requires a bit of experimentation. Most of us started with buds. We’d pack a bowl, or smoke a joint or blunt, and that was the most common way that we all chose to medicate. But now, concentrates are becoming the more prevalent choice. The yummy terps and sauces, the globs and shatter. It’s all a very interesting process that yields beautifully tasty results, and I’ve come to find that more often than not these days, people dab rather than smoke flower. Of course, you still find your stoners that are dedicated to buds. The ones that always have a blunt rolled and are ready to spark up whenever and wherever. But, why have concentrates become the more widely popular method to medicate? Do you think that dabs will eradicate the need for good, old-fashioned flower, or will we always have our stoners dedicated to the old-school way to blaze?
Smoking concentrates is a fairly new process of cannabis consumption. The process of making concentrates varies depending on the type. It has also changed over the years to weed out the more unhealthy ingredients used for extraction, such as butane and alcohol. There are several ways to do this, and when done correctly, this process yields concentrates that are much more potent than just smoking the cannabis itself. Taking a dab is going to get you much more high than smoking a bowl would. Some people prefer concentrated for this very reason. This is another factor that comes into play when choosing your preferred method of consumption. I’ve met people that only take dabs at home, but when they are out with friends they are happy to pass around a blunt. It varies from person to person, but I find it so interesting to see concentrates on such an uphill climb just in the last few years. Another factor to consider is ease of use. When smoking flower, you can smoke a bowl using various pipes or bongs. You can roll a blunt or a joint, or even a piece of fruit! I’ve seen stoners make smoking devices out of pretty much anything. When smoking flower, all you really need is your weed, and a lighter. When smoking concentrates though, if you’re taking dabs, you need a dab rig, a torch, your concentrate, and it all needs to be in the same place. It isn’t as simple to take dabs, and although it might be more effective in getting you high, it can also be a bit of a pain to get the job done.
Personally, I prefer flower. I’m happiest when I’m sharing a blunt with my favorite people, but I love cannabis in all of its forms and I’m truly intrigued by the potential this amazingly healing plant has in all shapes and forms. I can’t wait to see what else the cannabis world can do with our sweet, sweet Maryjane.
